# Getting an AMO refund, step by step

For ordinary care you pay first and your fund refunds part of it. The refund depends on a complete file sent on time. Here is the file, piece by piece.

- **Who:** Everyone covered by AMO through CNSS or CNOPS
- **Refund:** 70% of the reference tariff at CNSS, not of the bill
- **Deadline:** Send the file within about 60 days of the first treatment
- **Payment:** By bank transfer. Follow it on macnss.ma

## How the refund works

AMO refunds a share of a *reference tariff* set nationally, not a share of what you paid. At CNSS the usual rate is 70% of that tariff; at CNOPS, 80% for consultations, tests and radiology.

**Example.** A specialist charges 300 MAD. The reference tariff is 150 MAD. CNSS refunds 70% of 150 MAD, which is 105 MAD, and you bear 195 MAD.

For a hospital stay, the clinic asks your fund for a prior agreement, the *prise en charge*, and you pay only your own share: there is no refund file to send.

## The file, piece by piece

**What goes in your AMO refund file**

*One file per treatment. Keep a copy of everything before you hand it in.*

1. **The care sheet (*feuille de soins*).** Fill in your part: your registration number, your name, and the patient if it is your spouse or child. Each professional then fills in, signs and stamps their part: the doctor, the pharmacist, the laboratory.
2. **The prescription.** Hand in the original with the medicines, tests or care it orders.
3. **The medicine labels.** The pharmacist sticks the price labels from the boxes on the sheet. Without them, medicines are not refunded.
4. **Invoices and receipts** for tests, radiology and other care, and the results when the fund asks for them.

Your spouse and children must already be registered as your beneficiaries with the fund. Keep a copy or a photo of every page before you hand the file in.

## Where and when to hand it in

- **When.** Within about 60 days of the first treatment. A late file can be refused.

- **CNSS.** At a CNSS branch or at one of its approved collection points close to home, against a receipt.

- **CNOPS.** Public-sector staff go through their mutual society, until AMO moves to CNSS, which is planned for early 2027.

- **Electronic care sheet.** CNSS began testing an electronic care sheet in 2026 with a small number of doctors and pharmacies. Paper and electronic files will exist side by side for a while: ask your doctor which one applies.

## Following the refund, and refusals

- The refund arrives by bank transfer. Follow it in your account on [macnss.ma](https://www.macnss.ma).

- If a refund is refused or looks too low, write to your fund first, with copies of the file. If the answer does not satisfy you, you can refer the matter to ANAM.

- For a long-term illness on the official list (ALD), ask your doctor to request recognition: your share for that illness is then reduced or cancelled.

## Questions

**Why is the refund so much lower than the bill?**

Because AMO refunds a percentage of the reference tariff, not of the fee. When a doctor charges twice the tariff, you bear the difference plus your 30%. A complementary policy can pay part of that.

**I missed the 60 days. What can I do?**

Hand in the file at once, ask for a receipt and write to your fund explaining the delay. A late file can be refused, so do not wait longer.

**Do I need a care sheet for a hospital stay?**

Not usually. The hospital asks your fund for a prior agreement and the fund pays its share directly. You pay your own share and any fee above the tariff.
